According to Doctors, the novel covid-19 is likely to be spread through farts, reports say.
Tests carried out show that the virus was present in the faeces of more than half of patients with COVID-19.
A doctor who raised the issue on social media, highlighted work by Australian doctor Andy Tagg which he called “an enjoyable thread about whether farting can cause coronavirus”.
In his findings, Tagg cited tests carried out earlier this year which showed that 55 percent of patients with SARS-CoV-2 had it present in their excreta.
He said;
SARS-CoV-2 can be detected in faeces and has been detected in an asymptomatic individual up to 17 days post-exposure.
The doctor added that previous tests have shown farts have the power to spray talcolm powder long distances.
It is warned that a person could be at risk if they take a close sniff of large amount of gas emitted by an infected patient who was not wearing any clothing
He however advised that;
Perhaps SARS-CoV-2 can be spread through the power of farting – we need more evidence. So remember to wear appropriate PPE at all times and stay safe.
A report, however said it is very much unlikely that the disease can be transmitted through fart especially if the patient has a clothing on.
The doctors said more research needed to be done to rule out passing the disease on to people through emitting bodily gasses (Farts)
Meanwhile, other confirmed ways Coronavirus can spread are through droplets of bodily fluids – such as saliva or mucus – from an infected person or droplets on surfaces by coughing or sneezing, Aljazeera reports.
These droplets can come into direct contact with other people or can infect those who pick them up by touching infected surfaces and then their face.
According to scientists, coughs and sneezes can travel several feet and stay suspended in the air for up to 10 minutes.
