49 wedding guests have been arrested at Akaporiso a suburb of Obuasi for disregarding the lockdown and social distance order initiative, put in place by the president of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.
The lockdown and social distance order was passed by the president of Ghana to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country. Confirmed cases in Ghana stands at 408 with 8 deaths and 4 recoveries. The severity of the virus and easy contraction led to the activation of the lockdown and social distance order.
The 49 Wedding Guests Arrested were on the grounds of failing to observe the safety protocols rolled out for events. In the presidents previous state of the nation address on coronavirus in Ghana, he advised against social gatherings this festive season. Weddings or funerals should not have more than 10 people in attendance, these were simple rules which were flouted by a group of people in Obuasi, one of the restricted area in Ghana. The attendees were held at a holding facility awaiting punishment
