Nigerian author, essayist and human rights lawyer, Ayo Sogunro has stated that Lagos state is not a mega city, and is suffering.
Taking to his Twitter page, Ayo wrote about the hardships lagosians face, stating that most of it is caused by lack of good governance.
He also wrote that he hopes Abuja and other major cities in Nigeria, don’t end up like Lagos state.
See what he wrote below;
Lagos has to be the only city in Africa where people unwillingly leave home at 5 or 6am daily to get to work within the same city — often for relatively small pay.
This is a failure of governance that adds even more hardship to the lives of people. Good rest is important.
I sincerely hope Abuja and other major cities in Nigeria do not end up this way. This is not development, it is not ‘mega city’. It is suffering.
