A young man has officially taken his wife’s surname after marrying her to help her continue her family name.
As against the standard practice in almost every part of the world, which the custom is for a married woman to take her husband’s last name as her own after marriage, the man identified as Sean Michael Mseidor decided to take his wife’s name Wellington.
On his wedding day in September 2018, Sean Michael Mseidor became Sean Michael Wellington.
According to Twitter user @diaryofa9jagirl, Sean Michael decided to take the name Wellington to help his wife continue her family name through their children.
The wife, Simone Wellington, was born into a family of girls, which meant all her siblings would take the names of their husbands.
