Ahmed Wase, representing Wase Federal Constituency in Plateau State, has been elected unopposed as deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
Sade Sole from Katsina State nominated Mr Wase for the post.
Onifioke Luke from Akwa Ibom State seconded his nomination.
Wase emerged a few minutes after the landslide victory of Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker.
The duo ran on a joint ticket following Wase’s decision to step down for Gbajabiamila.
Senators Ahmed Lawan and Ovie Omo-Agege were earlier elected as president and deputy Senate president respectively.
Tuesday’s National Assembly election is a clean victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
