A man identified as Bashir Yahaya has been arrested by The Kano State Police Command after he stabbed a nurse for resisting rape attempt in Kabuga quarters, Gwale Local Government area of the state.
However, the victim, Aisha Kabir, has been treated and discharged following the injuries she sustained during the forceful attempt to rape her.
The incident occurred in a clinic at Tal’udu quarters, in Gwale Local Government where the nurse works.
The Nation reports that Yahaya is a serial rapist of teenagers in the metropolis.
According to reports, the suspect stormed the clinic on the fateful day and made attempt to rape the nurse. A move she resisted vehemently which led him to stabbing her with a kitchen knife.
Police spokesman Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the incident, said:’
“On May 12, at about 0700pm, the police in Kan received a report that a lady was stabbed in a clinic at Ta’udu quarters, Gwale Local Government.
‘”The police rushed to the scene and took the victim, Aisha Kabir, female, 20-year-old, of Dandago quarters, with cut on her neck to the Murtala Specialist Hospital, Kano.
“The suspect, Bashir Yahaya, 20, of Kabuga quarters, Kano was arrested on the scene of the crime and the exhibit of knife, with blood stain recovered from him.
‘’The suspect confessed to have attempted to rape her and she resisted.
’’Investigation is on and the suspect will soon be charged to court for prosecution.’’
