Liverpool centre-back, Virgil van Dijk has won the BBC Sport’s Premier League Player of the Year award.
The Dutch star, who secured a whopping 59% of the vote, beat off competition from Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Tottenham’s Heung min-Son.
The announcement was made through the official Twitter page of BBC Sport on Saturday afternoon.
A statement from BBC Sports read: “The votes have been counted and you have crowned Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk as the BBC Sport website’s player of the year.”
Van Dijk joined Liverpool in January of last year, for a huge sum of £75 million, a world-record fee for a defender.
The 27-year-old has been impressive since joining the Anfield club from Southampton.
