Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League, following a 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.
The Reds came into the game in second place, following Manchester City’s 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace in the first fixture of the day.
The first half ended goalless at Anfield, as both sides struggled to impose themselves in the game.
However, Sadio Mane opened scoring after the break, heading in Jordan Henderson’s cross at the far post.
Mohammed Salah made it 2-0 almost immediately, firing past Kepa Arizzabalaga from long range.
The win takes Jurgen Klopp’s men up to 85points, two more than City, although Pep Guardiola’s side have one outstanding game.
