The United States have announced the closure of their embassy in Abuja and consulate general in Lagos on Friday, February 22, in line with the public holiday announced in preparation of the general elections slated for Saturday, February 23.
A statement yesterday said “in recognition of the Nigerian government’s efforts to allow citizens to cast their votes, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will also comply in encouragement of all Nigerians to exercise their right to vote.”
“No consular services will be available. If you already have a regular visa or ACS appointment for that date, you will be contacted for rescheduling,” the statement read.
