What is IJMB?
The IJMB simply means Interim Joint Matriculation Board and was founded in 1975. It is an Approved, Proven and Certified advanced programme moderated by the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and coordinated in several higher education institutions and different national study centres across the country.
The program, in the initial stage, was designed to provide an opportunity for candidates who can not gain admission into regular study programs at northern universities for a variety of reasons. The entrance qualification in the program is a purely ordinary level result (O’level) also, candidates awaiting result can also apply.
IJMB is Approved:
By the federal government and it’s a platform for securing admission into the higher institution in the country and abroad through the admission of direct entry.
IJMB is Guaranteed:
Each year, approximately 20,000 applicants participate in the program, of which more than 70% successfully secure admission into 200 at their respective institution and preferred courses.
IJMB is Certified:
By Nigeria University Commission (NUC) has an advanced exam that qualifies students into 200 levels through direct entry.
How does it work?
Potential candidates must choose a combination of three A / L IJMB subjects identified with their preferred university degree program, be it a science, art or social science course.
Candidates will attend lectures during the period stipulated in their study centre and then they will write the final exam.
At the end of the program, successful applicants use their IJMB certificate to obtain admission to level 200 at any tertiary institution in Nigeria through direct entry.
Authenticity of the Programme
The IJMB certificate is currently recognized and accepted in more than 80% of federal, state and private universities in Nigeria. Therefore, potential candidates can check (item 2.2) of JAMB BROCHURE to confirm its authenticity.
Programme Duration
The program is carried out during a maximum period of one academic session (9-10 months) divided into two (2) semesters. The academic activities in all our centres begin every March and end in January. The exam takes place every February.
Programme Eligibility
The program is open to all interested candidates across the country and any course, be it science, art or social sciences can be offered.

IJMB Requirements
The IJMB requirements and the primary entry qualification is your ordinary level result. Before anyone can apply for IJMB, they must have completed high school.
However, candidates awaiting ordinary level result can also apply for the IJMB program. Candidates who are about to complete high school can also apply for the program.

The program can be followed by all interested and qualified candidates. By qualification, candidates must meet the basic requirements detailed below.

The basic requirements for IJMB admission are stated below:
- O’Level Result (Max of 2 sittings)
- Four (4) Passport Photographs
- Birth Certificate
- Certificate of State of origin (Optional)
How to Make Use of Your IJMB Result
To use your IJMB score to qualify for admission at level 200, you must visit the JAMB website or the nearest office to obtain the Direct Entry (DE) form, complete it with your IJMB score, by then you have the opportunity to choose the first and second choice university. The result of IJMB does not expire, so the candidate can use their result at any time.

IJMB Academic Calendar – 2018/2019 Session
The academic calendar begins each year in November and ends in April to register for the following year. In March, while registration is in progress, the course will generally begin in mid-March and early April.
The lectures will last until December from that March / April. For January, the revision for the session will begin. The examination may begin in late January or early February and the exam will take up to three weeks. At the end of April of the same year, the result will be published.
