The US attorney general, Jeff Sessions, said he was resigning Wednesday at the request of President Donald Trump in a move that raises questions over the future of a bombshell probe into Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia.
“At your request I am submitting my resignation,” Sessions wrote in his letter to Trump; noting, “We have restored and upheld the rule of law — a glorious tradition that each of us has a responsibility to safeguard.”
